Investing in Our Families: Support the Lansdowne Primary Academy Thrive Hive
Our Vision
To foster a welcoming space where all parents and carers are empowered to lead fulfilling lives [no matter their path], thrive personally, and collaborate with The GLC to nurture their children as active, thriving citizens within a diverse, truly fair and equal community.
Our Vision will be achieved by:
- Actively listening to our parents and carers, understanding their experiences, their strengths, and the obstacles they face. We’re designing it with them, ensuring it truly meets their needs and empowers them to overcome any hurdles in their path.
- Providing a welcoming sanctuary, a warm and accessible space that extends its embrace beyond the school day.
- Providing a community living room - a place where parents and carers can connect with others, share experiences, and simply enjoy a cup of tea in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
- Continuing to work with a diverse range of organisations, making vital support readily available - from health and housing advice to opportunities for adult education, debt management guidance, and the expertise of Citizens Advice
- Making the Thrive Hive a central point for connection, guiding parents and carers to the wealth of support available both locally and nationally.
- Signposting families to the resources they need to navigate challenges related to everything from health and further education to housing, addiction support, and even enriching cultural experiences.
- By providing practical resources, helping families access essential items like laundry facilities, bathroom amenities, cooking equipment, school uniform, and links to food banks and pantries, ensuring every child has what they need to thrive.
- Providing a multi purpose training room for the benefit of our families and a valuable space for our partner organisations to deliver their vital services.
- Providing targeted support programmes, to equip families with the understanding to foster good school attendance, establish positive routines and habits, and promote healthy lifestyles through engaging workshops on topics like cooking and well-being.
- Running evidence-informed parenting programmes, like the Triple P parenting programme, making a real difference to family life.
- Offering targeted support to equip parents and carers with the knowledge, skills and understanding to actively support their children’s learning and development.
- Providing specific training focused on building early language skills, expanding vocabulary, understanding phonics, and fostering a love of reading - crucial building blocks for future success.
- Providing access to desktop computers and a printer, empowering parents to navigate online forms and applications for vital services such as school admissions, housing, job applications and benefits.
- Offering informal drop-in and advice services, providing a safe and confidential space for parents to ask questions and seek guidance.
- Providing opportunities for parents and carers to volunteer within the Thrive Hive, fostering a sense of community, allowing them to connect with others, and develop valuable skills for the workplace. Our incredible parent champions are already a fantastic example of this.
- Providing practical support in writing CV’s and navigating the online job application process, empowering parents to achieve their career goals.
- Providing a multi-faith prayer room for prayer and reflection.
