Staff thoroughly enjoyed the warm conversations throughout the morning, as well as the creativity, fun, and resilience shown during the star-making activity. It was a truly memorable occasion, and we are already looking forward to our next celebration together.

Rather than arriving in costume, pupils designed and created their own wearable accessories as part of their classroom activities. By the end of the day, every child had crafted something unique to wear that represented the fairy tale theme. This approach allowed children to take full ownership of their creativity and ensured that everyone could take part, regardless of resources at home.

All materials for the children’s “fairy tale transformations” were provided during the school day, and it was fantastic to see the wide range of imaginative creations produced across the school.

Thank you to all staff for supporting such a creative and inclusive way to celebrate reading and helping to make the day a magical experience for our pupils.

We are especially proud of two pupils who placed in the top 14 nationally out of more than 300,000 participants — an exceptional accomplishment.

The pupils had a tremendous day on their school trip to the Tower of London, during their workshop with Jane the maid they learnt all about why the fire spread so quickly and how it was eventually put out. They loved exploring the historic building.

The competition was fierce, featuring over 100 schools from across Essex, but Lansdowne rose to the challenge—finishing in 5th place with only one loss! Their dedication and teamwork truly paid off. Beyond the scoreline, our pupils were fantastic ambassadors for LPA, embodying our core values at every turn. We are so proud of everything they have achieved!

They will be competing in the Boccia county finals in January. This is the first time in at least 10 years our school have made it to a county finals. A huge achievement for these 4 students to represent our school.

The learning culminated in a fantastic trip to Colchester Castle, bringing the history to life. In DT, pupils applied their knowledge by creating their own Roman shield designs.

The children have made a positive start to reception! 

They are familiarising themselves with the indoor and outdoor environments, establishing routines and expectations,  and building positive relationships with their peers. Well done, reception - we have made a sharp start to the Autumn term. 

In DT pupils have used their laptops to research bread and then taste tested many of the varieties before making their own bread.

In science, we have been learning about healthy nutrition and food groups, helping pupils understand the importance of a balanced diet. The children enjoyed hands-on activities that encouraged them to think about making healthy choices.

An exciting development this term is that every Year 3 pupil has been issued with a brand new laptop. This will support learning both in school and at home, giving pupils the tools to thrive in our digital world.

Year 6 also celebrated their SATs results in style, spending an afternoon on inflatables and enjoying fruit and ice lollies in the sunshine. Achieving the LPA’s best SATs results yet, they definitely deserved it!

The Year 6 team would like to wish all the students their best as they make their transition into Secondary school.

In each category there were two runners up and the winner.  Two out of the three pupils from LPA nominated were winners.

The hall was a busy event and the pupils sat for an hour and a half listening to all the awards. Each pupil managed wonderfully and all had the confidence to go up on to the stage to receive their certificate and award. They all congratulated each other and were fantastic ambassadors for LPA at the event. We are incredibly proud of all of them.’

Our children demonstrated amazing bravery, collaboration, and perseverance—not to mention a few muddy shoes and plenty of cheerful faces!

A big thank you to our dedicated staff and the wonderful team at Stubbers for making the trip such a special experience.

The Reception children worked hard preparing chocolate rice crispy cakes in time for LPA's Eco Community Fest. 

The children worked well as a team and were very careful placing the ingredients in the cake cases.

They were delicious, well done!

• We have come together to provide support and encouragement to each other as well as learn together and from each other.
• We offer a safe and welcoming space where we share experiences, seek guidance, reassurance and connect with others.
• We have been helping around the school with projects and put our views forward about how we can work together as a community.
• We have been on visits to the pyramid centre and the community room at Brisbane house, and we are trying to connect with support agencies to make sure we are all thriving.

We meet every week on a Friday at 9.30 and everyone is welcome to join us. Next half-term, we are going to be supporting some Triple P parenting solutions - more information to follow.

The day was filled with hands-on activities, including learning about mummification, creating canopic jars and amulets, making ink and writing, baking bread, and crafting perfume cones.

The day culminated in an Egyptian feast and exciting performances of plays and dances by the students. It was a truly amazing and immersive start to their new Egyptian topic!

The result? A series of innovative, fully functioning rides—a fantastic display of engineering, problem-solving, and collaboration!  Well done, Year 6!

We also had an amazing experience at the Imperial War Museum Duxford where children had the opportunity to get up close (and in some cases inside!) aircraft from as early as World War 1 all the way to the modern age. We also had a rare experience of seeing first hand a Spitfire take off from the airfield, which left everyone in awe.

They carefully chose ingredients for our upcoming D&T Family Learning Session, where they’ll be making delicious dips.

Following the market, we visited the Tate Modern art gallery, where the students were fascinated by the thought-provoking exhibits and embraced the creativity around them. It was a fantastic day full of learning, fun, and inspiration!
