Year 3

Caribbean Calypso

The children in year 3 have been studying the text Gregory Cool which is set in Tobago. Children have been learning about the country and its culture. Today, they had the wonderful experience of a Trailblazer music workshop that introduced them to the steel pans which have become an icon of Trinidadian and wider Caribbean culture. The children began to learn the techniques of playing the steel pans in small groups and explored rhythmic skills through playing percussion instruments.

By The Light Of The Moon

Today, the Full House Theatre Company performed their heart-warming new production,  ‘By The Light Of The Moon’. This playful performance to years 2 ,3 and 5 gave children the opportunity to witness puppetry and live singing that told a charming story about a friendship formed in the face of difference. This enchanting performance had many cross curricular links which the children discussed in class after the show.

Year 3 have had the wonderful opportunity to study Roald Dahl’s beloved children’s novel Matilda. The children have read, acted and written the tale of the extraordinary little girl who is determined to change her own story. Year 3 pupils discussed the language used within the text, acted scenes from the Matilda musical script and wrote their own interpretation of the story.
