The National Curriculum requires that children have the opportunity to engage with and learn a language. They should understand and respond to spoken and written language, speak with increasing confidence and fluency and find ways of communicating through discussion and asking questions. Children should also be taught to write in a different language, using the variety of grammatical structures that they have learnt. This should be alongside being immersed in the culture.

At Lansdowne Primary Academy, children are donning their mantilla and gilets and are exploring the Spanish Language. In classes children are learning how to communicate in the language, both orally and in written form. They are also looking at the Spanish culture and how it varies from the lives we are used to in England!

Children at Lansdowne Primary Academy are already taking part in some exciting opportunities in the name of Spanish!
