Personal Learning Goals

Personal Learning Goals:

At Lansdowne we have 8 personal learning goals:

Adaptability, communication, co-operation, resilience, morality, thoughtfulness, enquiry and respect.

These learning goals are in place of classroom rules; we believe that if we demonstrate these learning goals we will become effective learners in school and, in the future, successful in whatever path we chose.

All classrooms have an octopus with each learning goal displayed and certificates are given out in assembly to celebrate children who demonstrate these behaviours.

Year 6 students thought about what each of the learning goals might look like in class:

  • Working with others.
  • Teamwork.
  • Sharing equipment.
  • Ensuring people are not left out.
  • Helping a new person in the school.

  • Keeping on task and staying focussed.
  • Keep trying NEVER give up.
  • If you get something wrong, trying to find a solution in a different way.

  • Sharing books, equipment, toys…..
  • Thinking of others - if someone is alone, offering to play with them.
  • Helping someone who is ill.

  • Making the right choices.
  • Obeying instructions.

  • Asking questions.
  • Extra work, research.

  • Talking to each other.
  • Body language.
  • Being on task
  • Showing facial expressions.

  • Sharing.
  • Listening to each other.
  • Looking after equipment
  • Treating others as you would like to be treated.

  • Respect for different teachers.
  • Asking different types of questions.
  • Being able to work both as a group and on your own.
  • Being able to change your mind.

Which ones can you catch your children doing?
